Overview

Parallax is built with privacy as a core principle. We believe your life data belongs to you, and we've designed our application to minimize data collection while still providing a powerful experience for exploring alternate life paths.

Data Storage

Your timeline data is stored locally in your browser. We use localStorage to save your timeline, explored variants, and preferences. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly share it.

• No account or registration is required to use Parallax
• Clearing your browser data will remove your saved timelines

LinkedIn PDF Processing

When you upload a LinkedIn PDF, it is sent to our server for parsing. The PDF is processed to extract career events and is immediately discarded after processing. We do not store, log, or retain any uploaded PDFs.

AI-Generated Content

When you explore "what-if" scenarios, your timeline data is sent to Anthropic's Claude AI to generate alternate paths. This is necessary to provide the core functionality of the app.

Payment Processing

If you purchase a license, payment is processed through Stripe. We do not store your payment card information. Stripe's privacy practices are governed by their own privacy policy.

• We receive only your email address and license key from the payment flow
• License keys are stored locally in your browser for validation

Analytics

We may use privacy-friendly analytics (such as Plausible or Fathom) to understand aggregate usage patterns. These services:

• Do not use cookies
• Do not track individual users across sites
• Collect only aggregate, anonymized data
• Are GDPR compliant by design

Cookies

Parallax does not use tracking cookies. We only use essential browser storage (localStorage) to save your timeline data and preferences locally on your device.

Your Rights

Since your data is stored locally in your browser, you have complete control over it:

• Access: Your data is already on your device
• Delete: Clear your browser's localStorage or use the app's reset function
• Export: Your browser's developer tools can access localStorage data
